Message:<\/td>\n Now that the caves are open, you might notice this big beautiful barrel near the cave entrance!\nThis is our resident Foudre barrel, which holds a whopping 317 gallons of wine. Not just any wine is stored in here, only our very favorite blocks of zinfandel from Lily Hill! \nThe 2019 Lily Hill zinfandel has been aging in this Foudre for over a year now, and we can't wait to taste the final results (though we will have to wait a little while longer).<\/td>\n <\/tr>\n <\/tbody>\n <\/table>\n \n <\/div>\n \n<\/div>\n\n\n

Some days though, we taste wines we don't make, like this week when we tasted 12 Gewurztraminers, pitting Alsace against the United States. Message:<\/td>\n Veraison at Westside Farms this morning. Veraison marks the onset of the ripening, when the berries begin accumulating sugar. With red grapes this is easy to see because the grapes turn from green to red. With whites, however, it's more difficult as the grapes remain green.
