We couldn't be more blessed with a better leader: \nKaren Fontanella\nWhen Karen graduated with a law degree from the University of San Diego in 2000, never in her wildest dreams did she imagine she'd be running a winery in Napa one day. However, her professional experience in business development, land use, and commercial real estate \u2013 coupled with her family spirit of entrepreneurship \u2013 armed Karen with the exact tools she uses today to run the daily business of Fontanella Family Winery. Her sense of community service has kept her very busy over the years here in Napa, and she\u2019s served on nearly 10 boards including Aldea, Leadership Napa Valley, and the Mt. Veeder Appellation Council. When she's not seeing to the day-to-day operations of the winery, you can find Karen running her two sons, John and Andrew around. Message:<\/td>\n Now that well are all familiar with Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a new chapter of the #LarkmeadLegacy begins with the Salmina family.\n1895 – 1906\nThe Salmina family arrived in the Napa Valley from Switzerland in the 1860s, leased the Larkmead winery in 1895 and purchased it outright in 1903. Felix Salmina had a background in winemaking and quickly began converting the old wooden winery into a thriving business. By 1906, the Salminas' plan to expand was complete and the new Larkmead winery stood strong, built of stone quarried from the nearby hills.
